Date palm (Phoenix dactylifera) is a tree of the palm family cultivated for its sweet edible fruits. It is one of the ancient fruit crops and is indigenous to countries around the Persian Gulf. Date palm cultivation in India 

In India, date palms were introduced by the soldiers of Alexander in the Indus valley. They were also grown here during the regime of Akbar (AD 1555-1605). Before the partition of our country in 1947, the areas where date palms were grown included – Multan, Muzaffargarh, Jhang, Deragazi Khan, Bhawalpur, and Kherpur, now in Pakistan. 

In Rajasthan, date cultivation was first introduced by the then-ruler Ganga Singh of the erstwhile Bikaner state through the plantation of a few varieties of Halawy, Khadrawy, and Zahidi at Ganganagar, a part of Thar Desert after the development of the Ganga canal in the state.   • Place the sieve. Add 2 cups of atta or wheat flour, 1tsp baking powder, and ½ tsp baking soda.
  • Add the walnuts and dates

  • Pat the tray twice to remove any air

  • Place the tray into the preheated oven and bake the cake at 180 degrees Celsius for at least 45 minutes
